This is a bit of a light post for on Sunday night, the Oscars will be held in Los Angeles. It will be good to see Billy Crystal back hosting. I always liked him. This post has nothing to do with anything else except I am one of those people who likes to make Oscar picks. This year, there are very few favorites going into the night. Most of the categories have a close race on so should be interesting show to watch actually. So here are my picks and we’ll see at end of the weekend how I managed.  A disclaimer: Please don’t make any bets based on what you read here. You might end up homeless if you do.

Best Picture: The Artist (With Hugo a close second)

Best Director: Martin Scorsese (Hugo)

Best Actor: George Clooney (The Descendents);  Best Supporting Actor: Max Van Sydow (Incredibly Loud & Extremely Close)

Best Actress: Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn); Best Supporting Actress: Berenice Bejo (The Artist) 

Writing Original Screenplay: Midnight In Paris/Woody Allen;   Writing Adapted Screenplay: Moneyball

Animated Feature: Rango;  Cinematography: Hugo;    Film Editing: Hugo; 

Art Direction:  The Artist;  Costume Design: The Artist  

Documentary Feature: Undefeated;    Documentary Short: The Barber of Birmingham;

Best Foreign Film: Canada/Monsieur Lazhar ;    Makeup: The Iron Lady;

Music Original Score: War Horse/John Williams ;  Music Song: The Muppets (How can you vote against the Muppets?)

Short Film Animated: La Luna;  Short Film Live: Tuba Atlantic; Sound Editing: War Horse; Sound Mixing: Transformers;

Visual Effects: Hugo;
